Description

College Insurance Fumbles, The Sharing Economy, and More
(4 Oregon CE Hours)

Thursday 8 am-Noon

When kids head to college, the last thing on their mind is insurance. Excited to be away from Mom and Dad, these college kids often engage in activities that have serious insurance implications. This class will look at issues such as taking a car to college, coverage under a homeowners policy of the parents, those pesky Bird and Lime scooters, host liquor liability, rental of cars and motor homes by the parents to visit the college student, driving for a transportation network company (TNC) like Uber or Lyft, and even home sharing. Help Mom and Dad avoid a “college football fumble” with this class.

Connecting BBQ & Insurance
(4 Oregon CE Hours)
Thursday 1 pm -5 pm

Just how on earth is David Thompson, CPCU going to connect BBQ with insurance? He is the self-proclaimed “World’s Next BBQ Pit Boss” and assures you that the connection will be made. Subjects will include newly acquired commercial property locations, the designated premises CGL endorsement, delivery of BBQ under both a BAP and a PAP, business income & extra expense, MVR issues, blanket commercial property coverage and the margin clause, rental cars, trailers, and even a discussion of the homeowners policy as it relates to the BBQ business. Oh yeah, don’t miss this session because David will be giving away some of his “Dave’s Famous Homemade BBQ sauce.” It’s “sweet with a kick.” Combine insurance education with BBQ sauce and it will be a great class

E&O From the Mouths of Experts
Swiss Re approved for agency risk management credits
(4 Oregon CE Hours)
Friday 8am-Noon
Swiss Re approved for agency risk management credits.
This class will be presented in a unique format to address current E&O trends for those working in an agency or company. Using actual data from SwissRe, several "guests" will be involved via live phone calls and/or recorded Zoom interviews. Those guests will include SwissRe/Westport-approved E&O claims. These experts will bring information about real E&O claims with tips on how to avoid the problem they are facing. All will speak to the fact that when an agency does their job by quoting, explaining, and recommending the best coverages, the result is that better coverage means more claims are paid, and E&O defense becomes a byproduct of selling the best coverage. You'll even see how a Starbucks analogy can be used to sell better coverage and help avoid E&O claims.
